- ONLINE FILM COLLECTIONS. The library subscribes to several databases of streaming media. Some of these are a direct replacement for films in the library and faculty collections, and some offer new content that reflects the NPU curriculum. Through the library website, you and your students have unlimited access both on and off-campus to PBS Online and Films on Demand Humanities and Social Sciences. The latter includes many of the Films for Humanities and Sciences and other academic collections. You are not restricted to showing these films in class. You can link them to Moodle, email them, or simply tell your students which films to search in the film databases. We also subscribe to additional online film packages in the arts, health sciences, criminal justice, education, and other fields. To see a full list of these online sources, go to the library’s new website and click on the blue “Multimedia” tab on the left. Please contact us if you would like us to order other online film collections.
- VCR USE IN THE LIBRARY. If you would like to show a VHS, please go on 25Live and reserve room 022 (the lower level study room) in the Brandel Library which has a VCR player. You do not have to contact IT, Media Services, or the library to do this. It will hold approximately 12 people and additional chairs are available. Students may use this room on their own time if you would like to place a film on reserve.
- VHS REPLACEMENT. If you would like to show a film that the library owns in VHS, please notify us so we can purchase it in DVD or streaming format. If neither of these options is available for sale, we will create a DVD of the film to add to our collection and remove our VHS copy. We cannot make duplicates of your VHS tapes for your work or personal collections as it can be a copyright issue and we simply do not have the staff to do this.
