In marketing, copy refers to written communication that aims to result in a specific response from its audience. We refer to this as a “call to action.” Before you share with or request copy from UMC, determine the “who” and the “why” for the communication.

Wonderful! Please open a Jira ticket and include any relevant information.
What do I do if a journalist contacts me?
Please email Communications Director Kennedy Murphy with the information the journalist sent. Kennedy will share any talking points or recommendations as needed. She will then determine if the media coverage is something UMC may be interested in sharing on North Park’s website and/or social media. If yes, she will stay in touch to receive a link to the media coverage once complete.

Web
January–May 2025, UMC is transitioning the current website to a new, redesigned site. This will impact some of the following information. Please continue to submit Jira tickets should you need edits or have questions.
I need to update my web page.
Open a Jira ticket and include the URL of the page, along with the specific updates needed.
I’d like to create a new web page.
Open a Jira ticket and include the following:
Where you would like the new page to be located
Why the new page is needed
All relevant content, including copy, images, videos, etc.
Note that unless the content is required for accreditation, policies, etc., UMC may deny the request for a new page. If you need assistance with copywriting, please be aware that this will extend the timeline for page creation.
I’d like to be able to edit my own web page.
Open a Jira ticket and list all the pages you will manage. Mention if you are taking over responsibilities from someone else. The digital content manager will be in touch to provide WordPress contributor training materials and allow access.
Please note that the digital content manager vets all edits before they are live on the website.
How do I submit and update my faculty/staff profile?
Please submit a Jira ticket with a brief biography and educational background information; educational background is primarily a faculty profile feature, but we can include it for staff if requested. UMC will edit the biography to fit our editorial guidelines and upload it to your profile on northpark.edu.
UMC cannot edit names or position titles on the directory. Please contact Human Resources if you have any such changes.
